Female Foundry Week 50: Bold. Funded. Female. The Female Foundry Wrap Up 2022!
Welcome to The Week 50, 2022 of the Female Foundry newsletter.
Hello there!
Thank you for the past 50 weeks.
Having been on both sides of the venture building, as an investor and as a founder, I started Female Foundry to bring the venture ecosystem together and support female founders that, just as I used to, face fundraising challenges.
We have now grown into a community of over 4,800 VCs, angel investors, and female founders across Europe - 30% of the Female Foundry newsletter’s readers are male.
Thank you for playing your part in this great success! Every single one of you has reinforced my belief in the importance and the potential of Female Foundry. Thank you for your engagement, your questions, your feedback, and your energy!
I appreciate you.
The Female Foundry 2022 Wrap Up.
In the past 50 weeks, I had a great opportunity to meet and mentor many brilliant, talented, bold and tenacious female entrepreneurs all over Europe. During this time, we celebrated 247 female founders and 11 female-led VC funds that raised capital.
..speaking about numbers.
Here, at Female Foundry, we do things differently. See our Female Foundry Annual Review.
We are just getting started.
According to the recent Pitchbook data, in 2022, US-based female founders raised only 1.9% of the entire capital, only about 12% of decision-makers at VC firms are women, and 64% of firms still do not have a single female partner.
I will be sharing more on this in my separate review after the Christmas break.
What’s on in 2023?
I have some big plans for Female Foundry in 2023 to accelerate this progress - bring more women into the investment ecosystem, and more capital to female entrepreneurs.
You will be the first to hear about them in 2023.
Now, it’s time for a break.
Enjoy the festive season, and see you after Christmas!
